چکیده
Abstract Workshop manuals on lithography tend to be written with art students in mind and the information they contain largely focuses technical aspects of process. It is, however, difficult put into words nuances this printmaking practice, consequently, handbooks rarely refer sensory phenomenological experience. In light issue, my intention Listen is test potential limitations language as a means through which describe tacit embodied knowledge lithographer. To aid task, I created two-minute video recording myself preparing stone features central element text. Prompted by process transcribing its sound, became protagonist transdisciplinary encounter between lithographic sound words. Structured an intertextual narrative, couples transcription historic, geological cultural survey sonorous stones. Punctuating dialogue, are quotations from that tether serendipitous exchange intention: being speak about perceptual realms practice. At core Listen, subject graining limestone—a requires both careful attention, ensure surface even free unwanted marks, tolerant sensitivity abrasive noise stone. These two aspects, attention noise, entwined content, critical interests, metaphorical dimensions Listen. As piece material ongoing practice-led research explores intersection language, knowingly tests protocols academic language. My unconventional approach, not present results enquiry, but offer reader scriptural space for contemplative reflection. Somewhat akin practices lithography, suggest act engagement proposes rewarded intimate presence noise.
